Jamaica’s Port Community System, “JamaicaPCS”, enables intelligent, secure and reliable exchange of information, connecting public and private stakeholders in order to
improve the competitive position of the Jamaican sea and airport communities. It will optimize, manage and automate many port and logistics processes, ultimately providing the country with first-world
logistics and trade facilitation capabilities. Its success will serve to bolster the country’s ranking in the international shipping industry, ultimately leading to economic growth and development.
The PCS is facilitated by the Port Authority of Jamaica in partnership with the Jamaica Customs Agency, along with the support of the Shipping Association of Jamaica. It is accessible to all members of the Port
Community with moderate user fees that are among the lowest in the world. While technology has contributed enormously to this accomplishment, the project’s true success is a result of the ongoing collaboration and
contributions of many stakeholders across the local Port Community.
